May 2026 election

Election Night! May 2026

After the 2rd ballot drop at 9:30pm, we get a pretty good picture of what’s been decided and what’s still in play, if anything. The images below and latest information is from the Oregon Secretary of State webpage and the Clackamas County Clerk’s page for more detailed results by precinct.

My thoughts on races I was following:

  • Wilsonville: We’re going to have our charter amended to require changes to urban renewal go to a vote. I was against this. This video I recorded explains why (which I heard from organizers was the top watched video!). I’m really proud of the Wilsonville United team that formed to support this. Also, I feel for the concerns that drove people to put this on the ballot. It’s why I’m still committed to funding things we can agree upon and working together.

  • Clackamas County Commission: Diana Helm, who was appointed - and for my 2 cents has done a quality job, was elected to a full term. This race was changed when Annessa Hartman, high-quality human and former state rep, had to drop out due to medical reasons. West and Fischer are in a repeat of history. Close race with Fischer in the lead, but we’ll have to wait to see if West can get enough votes in the ballots that remain or if Fischer will hold him off. Four years ago West won at the end by a close margin. Savas is leading but it’ll go to a runoff with Bernard, or Shull (massive yuck).

  • Clackamas levy for the Sheriff’s Office is failing. Major surprise! The affordability issue is real and alive across all political sides.

  • Canby and Newburg school levies are failing. No good. Like actual levies for water stuff, if you keep disinvesting in schools, you leave your community at major risk for failure. I feel for those kids and teachers.

  • Washington County Chair: Treece and Fai are both quality people, but I prefer Fai because of her ability to do progressive things for immigrants and refugees and be business friendly. Since there was a third person and neither of them got 50%, this will head to a November runoff.

Check out the percentages below.

Also, I’m in a 3rd place tie to be a Precinct Person (PCP) for the Democratic Party in my area. But, I’m within the the top 21, so I’ll be re-elected!
