Priority issues & Policy Actions
Youth Health & Safety
The convergence of pandemic-era learning loss, a fractured foster care system, and unregulated social media has created a public health crisis. We must elevate youth safety as a top priority through:
Social Media Guardrails: Advocating for state and federal regulations to protect minors online.
Mental Health Partnerships: Integrating enhanced support systems directly within our schools.
Positive Engagement: Expanding funding for arts, sports, and workforce training to keep youth engaged.
Foster Care Reform: Increasing state and county accountability to protect our most vulnerable children.
Targeted Enforcement: Investing in the Sheriff’s Office to investigate and enforce youth protection laws.
Economic Stability for Families
Rising costs for essentials—compounded by inefficient transportation and housing systems—are squeezing residents. I will fight to lower the cost of living by:
Streamlining Access: Removing bureaucratic barriers between residents and existing support resources.
Housing Security: Prioritizing rental and mortgage assistance to prevent displacement.
Childcare Solutions: Cutting regulatory red tape and investing in provider wages to lower daycare costs.
Economic Mobility: Expanding apprenticeships that bridge the gap to high-wage careers.
Smarter Transit: Brokering competitive city-to-city and "last-mile" transit options to support planned housing growth.
Rural Stewardship & Strategic Growth
Clackamas County’s agricultural land is our most vital resource, but an "anti-development" stance isn't enough to save it. We must balance preservation with economic connectivity:
Agricultural Innovation: Investing in research for multi-cropping and biodiversity to keep farms profitable.
Defending Local Control: Pushing back against state preemption to keep land-use decisions in local hands.
Tax Relief: Advocating for lower state taxes on agricultural transportation.
Infrastructure: Expanding high-speed internet to rural corridors and reorienting transportation to connect industrial hubs with workers and export routes.
